The past couple of days have seen the project take a little bit of a back seat. My family came to visit, which has been a lovely break for us, and it’s been great to spend some time together as they live quite far away.
I have managed to make some progress on The Inventor this afternoon and evening, although not much of it has been prototyping. Instead, I spent the afternoon updating the notes repository I’m building as a design document for the game.
Today:
- I developed more of the world’s lore, including the starting town and how it may grow throughout the game’s story.
- I added more ideas for the different eras — more about those at a later date!
- I added ideas and developed some of the mechanics for how Guilds will work in the game.
- I looked in more detail at how I’d like resource gathering to work, and how it connects with the Guilds.
- I added more detail to the exploration systems I’d like to see implemented.
Some of these ideas may seem quite far off, or a little abstract without more context, but I want to keep certain parts of the game to myself until I have a more developed plan and prototype to show.
Hopefully, that will add a little intrigue for anyone following along.
As always, thanks for reading.
Until next time,
Steve
